Teenager charged after gun fired and knife spotted in Birmingham

Thankfully, no-one was injured in the incident

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with possessing a knife following an incident involving weapons in Perry Barr.

Police were called to Old Walsall Road at around 5.50pm on Sunday, August 2, after reports that someone had been seen carrying a knife and a gun had been fired.

Thankfully, no-one was injured in the incident.

As part of their investigation West Midlands Police officers detained a 17-year-old boy earlier this week. He has since been charged with possession of a knife and is due to appear before Birmingham Youth Court on September 8.

The investigation remains ongoing; police are continuing to appeal for information to help identify two men believed to have been involved.

The men are believed to have fled the area on a motorcycle. Officers say the vehicle appeared to have had its registration plate removed.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the Old Walsall Road area at the time of the incident, or who may have information about the men or motorcycle, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website, quoting log number 3313 of August 2.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
