Warning after demand for fire crews in Staffordshire on the rise

Fire service shares warning after Morfe Lane farmland fire.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that a large field fire in Enville has been determined as having an ‘accidental cause’ following an investigation.

Crews were called to fire on a massive farmland located on Morfe Lane just off the A458 Bridgnorth Road, shortly after 6.20pm on Friday (July 31).

Following the fire, those from the fire service are warning people to take all necessary steps to prevent accidental fires from happening in the first place.

Watch Manager Justin Cooley, who attended to the Morfe Lane incident from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The demand across Staffordshire during the dry weather has been significant, which is why we’re urging people to take all of the possible steps to avoid accidental fires from taking place.

“Please make sure that cigarettes are fully stubbed out and disposed of properly, waste is not left on the floor and barbeques are not used in green spaces.

“Failing to do any of these things drastically increases the chances of large-scale fires taking place in your community."
