Staffordshire A-road closed for 'controlled explosion' of World War II device
A busy A-road in Staffordshire is closing for a controlled explosion.
A busy A-road in Staffordshire is closing for a ‘controlled explosion’ following the discovery of a World War II device.
The A38, which runs from Lichfield, will be temporarily closed from 5pm for a controlled explosion following the excavation of potential unexploded bomb at Barton Pit Quarry near Wychnor.
Barton under Needwood Parish Council said the plan “ is to conduct a controlled explosion of the bomb at 5.00 p.m. this afternoon. (No information on why they have chosen that particular time... but they will be having to liaise with lots of other agencies: Staffs & Derbys Police. National Highways, Network Rail, etc. ).”
The statement added: “A temporary closure of the A38 will be put on for them to do that. We don't have any information on what time the closure will be operating from so if you need to get anywhere urgently around that time and plan to use the A38 then you should probably consider a different route to avoid any delay.”
