Shropshire village pub enjoys busy return after refurb

The pub has become a popular hub for walkers, cyclists and passing drivers.

A village pub set in the middle of bucolic countryside between Bridgnorth and Ludlow has been enjoying a busy period since reopening.

The Three Horseshoes in Wheathill has seen plenty of trade from walkers, cyclists and drivers since it reopened on June 6 under its new management.

The pub, which is halfway between Ludlow and Bridgnorth, closed on May 26 to allow for a refurbishment and repainting from its new owner, Ludlow businesswoman Billie Urey-Guest.

She said the opening day, which featured a BBQ and live music, had been a great success.

She said: “It was amazing, literally full to the brim, with both the car parks full, and we had some live music and we had the barbecue on.

“Since opening up, we’ve had a lot of passers by and I've had some cyclists come in and said that it's great, as well as some builders that have come in just on their way to a job and come in and got some bar snacks.

“Hopefully, it will start to build up now because we're open from 12 now, so hopefully we'll get more passers by rather than just the locals that are coming in the evening after work.”

As well as being a pub with a range of drinks of tap, including hand pulled ales from Ludlow Brewery, Ms Urey-Guest said she was looking forward to getting the carvery up and running at the weekend, saying that the food would be good and the views spectacular.

She said: “On a Sunday, we are going to be having the carvery, so we're going to have two sit ins and to see how it goes to begin with 12pm and 2.30pm.

“Our diaries are open for that now and and it will be delicious now it’s up and running, plus I think they’ll enjoy the view from here as it is sensational.”
