The transport provider said this was due to a “passenger being taken ill on a train at Acocks Green”.

All rail lines have reopened following the incident. However, delays of up to 30 minutes may continue.

Disruption is expected until 7pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner. Some may be entitled to claim compensation for the delay.

“Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim,” a spokesperson for National Rail said.
