The future of the Moorcroft Environment Centre in Moxley had been uncertain since the centre closed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the building and surrounding area being left to go into disrepair.

However, the centre is set to undergo a complete refurbishment after Darlaston South councillors Paul Bott and Chris Bott managed to secure £60,000 for two projects around the revival of the centre.

The first will see £30,000 spent on doing external and internal work to the building, which includes installing central heating, new toilets, new flooring, a new kitchen and completely redecorate the centre, as well as install internet connectivity.

The centre was part of a project to set up an environmental education and resource centre at the Moorcroft Nature Reserve, with the community able to go into the woodlands and study nature, and Councillor Paul Bott said it was a building of historical and community significance.
