Plans to convert South Staffordshire barn into four new homes approved
A former agricultural barn next to a football club can be converted into four new homes after South Staffordshire councillors voted to approve plans.
The site at Brinsford Lane, Slade Heath, was previously in “unauthorised” use for vehicle restoration and repairs. a report to the council’s planning committee said.
Consent to use the site for storage purposes, including classic vehicle restoration and repair, was refused in 2024.
But permission was unanimously granted at the latest planning committee meeting for change of use for residential purposes, to create four three-bedroom homes next to Wolverhampton Casuals FC

Agent Phil Plant, who spoke in support of the application, said: “The application is rightly recommended for approval by planning officers.
The modest barn conversion proposals accord with adopted Local Plan policies and relevant policies in the National Planning Policy Framework.
“The proposed development is considered to constitute an appropriate form of development in the Green Belt and would result in no material harm to the street scene or openness of the Green Belt, given it is considered ‘grey belt’.
"There is an existing vehicular access to the site, parking provision is sufficient and secure and cycle parking is provided.”
Ward councillor Wendy Sutton said: “Having looked at and viewed this application, I can’t see any reason why we wouldn’t support it, in view of the eyesore it has been for some years. Anything would be better than what is at this moment in time.”
