Major plans for Bloxwich park to be decided next week

Transformation plans for one of Walsall’s biggest parks are set to be decided by planners next week.

If approved, King George V Playing Fields could have a new pavilion building, artificial sports pitch, multi-use games area and 140 parking spaces.

The new pavilion, to be located where the existing building is, will host a cafe, community area and event space, toilet facilities and four changing rooms.

No objections have been received from statutory consultees and the plans have been recommended for approval.

But 29 objections have been submitted, the majority from members of the public associated with Bloxwich Hockey Club.

They raised concerns about existing parking problems on Bealys Lane, anti-social behaviour and no provision for hockey.

One comment was received in support of the proposal which described it as an ‘exciting development’.

Planners will meet on Thursday, February 12, to make a decision on the plans.
