Alteration plans come forward for former Amazon warehouse in Rugeley

Plans have come forward for alterations to the former Amazon fulfilment centre in Rugeley.

The online retail giant announced in 2023 that it would be relocating operations from the Power Station Road site to a new state of the art fulfilment centre in Sutton Coldfield.

The Rugeley site was the largest employer in Cannock Chase, with around 1,000 staff. But the massive warehouse is currently vacant.

A planning application for the site has now been submitted to Cannock Chase Council by Lysander Associates Limited, a Surrey-based construction consultancy. Permission is being sought for a multi storey car park and site alterations including external changes to the main building, as well as smaller support outbuildings and structures such as gatehouses and smoking and bus shelters.
