The naming of a Staffordshire town as one of the UK's top property hotspots has been hailed as a boost for the area and a sign of confidence.
The good news for Rugeley was hailed by Cannock Chase Council leader George Adamson who said: "This is particularly good news following the announcement of Amazon moving to the town. We know that Tesco, too, is opening up there.
It is a sign that things are hopefully picking up for the town. It shows growing confidence in the area."
Research by Halifax showed that house sales in Rugeley were up by 30 per cent in the first six months of 2011, the third biggest rise in the country.
The substantial increase in home sales in the town has been driven by a rise in the level of activity at the lower and middle end of the housing market.
