A property developer with homes across Stafford has been crowned Young Property Woman of the Year.

Amy Dixon, who runs the successful lettings agency Dixon Estates, has been given the top accolade by the National Landlord Association because of her early investments in the property market and her rapidly expanding portfolio.

The 30-year-old received the award at the NLA's prestigious Property Women Awards ceremony in Central London.

Despite the problems facing the current housing market Mrs Dixon has demonstrated determination and a savvy business approach at a very young age, making her a cut above the rest.

She began work from a home office and managed to buy her first rental property with a deposit of £5,000 at the age of 19.

She now looks after more than 150 properties including her own investments.

She has since gone on to build a highly successful business while bringing up two children.

The awards were presented by property addict and TV presenter Melissa Porter, who had nothing but praise for her success.

She said: "I'm a business woman myself, so I know it takes a lot of hard work and commitment to succeed - two qualities that Amy has in abundance.

"The last year certainly hasn't been easy for the property market, but in a way that makes celebrating the achievements of women like Amy even sweeter."

David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, added: "The outstanding achievements of our finalists never ceases to amaze me.

"The awards highlight the professionalism and dedication of the women who operate in the private-rented sector.

"Amy deserves to be proud of what she has achieved."

Mrs Dixon said: "I am a Stafford girl born and bred.

"I believe we have a great town for investment and I am very proud to have put us on the map for the standard of housing offered here by private landlords."
