One week left to help shape Dudley's financial future by taking part in council budget consultation
People have been reminded they have just over a week left to have their say and help shape future decisions in Dudley Council’s updated 2026-27 budget consultation.
So far, nearly 4,000 people from across Dudley have responded to the survey, which asks people which council services they have used this year, their priorities for next year and their level of support for any council tax or adult social care precept increases.
Following new information received in late December in the finance settlement for the local authority, the consultation has been updated to broaden the opportunity for people to have their say.
Anyone who has already completed the original survey can also complete the updated survey.
Councillor Steve Clark, cabinet member responsible for finance, said: “The consultation gives residents and businesses the opportunity to tell us what is important to them when it comes to council spending.
“I would encourage those who have not yet responded to share their views with us.
"Those who have already responded can also complete the updated survey, which reflects information received just before Christmas on our financial settlement from government.
“Hearing from residents and businesses is essential to understanding their priorities and how these align with the management of our budgets.”
The council budget proposals for 2026/27 include a range of investments totalling more than £18 million. This is in addition to £17 million that the council has built in for inflation.
The budget also includes £3.5 million worth of new efficiency savings and plans to boost reserves to £48.8 million by April next year and £66.1 million by 2031.
The responses will be considered alongside advice from council officers, elected members from political groups, businesses and partners in health and other public service organisations across the borough.
A summary of the public’s responses will be included in the report considered by the council when agreeing the budget in February 2026.
