The poll was triggered by the resignation of Reform UK’s Wayne Titley last month, less than two weeks after he took the Eccleshall and Gnosall seat from previous Conservative incumbent Jeremy Pert in the May 1 county council election.

Mr Pert will once again be contesting the seat for the Conservatives, along with three other candidates who stood for election last month. They are Ray Barron, who will be hoping to retain the seat for Reform UK, Labour member Leah Elston-Thompson and Green Party candidate Scott Spencer.

The by-election for the Eccleshall and Gnosall divison will be held on Thursday, July 17. Polling stations in the area will be open between 7am and 10pm.

Residents in the division who are not yet registered to vote have until 5pm on July 1 to do so. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is July 2 and the last date for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on July 9.
