I find it absolutely astonishing that a protester was able to get so close to her - let alone stay there for so long.

To paint the picture, it is important to understand the security levels we have faced in Manchester this week.

It was like a warzone outside the venue, with so many armed police on the streets.

Security was so tight inside the venue that we couldn't take bags inside.

Yet it all looks so superfluous when you look at what happened.

The very second he stood up I would have expected him to have been taken down by security guards.

It seems like that at an event like a party conference, there is a fairly obvious threat. The fact that it wasn't dealt with immediately is quite shocking.

It has left a lot of people feeling vulnerable, because if something like this can happen to the Prime Minister, where does that leave the rest of us?

It was obviously not an easy speech for the Prime Minister, who was also of course suffering with a dreadful cold.

But the fact that she got through to the end shows her incredible resilience.

The response from those present in the room was also fantastic to see, with delegates doing everything they could to reach out and help the Prime Minister.

For me it showed real unity. With the conference behind us I think there are plenty of reasons to look to the future in a positive light.

The big announcement on energy prices and the Government's house building plans are fantastic, and reflect the direction that I believe the party should be heading in under Theresa May.
