A House of Commons tile signed by Jeremy Corbyn has raised £140 for the victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

The tile, which was removed from the Lower Waiting Room as part of renovations to the Palace of Westminster, was acquired by Labour's West Bromwich West MP Adrian Bailey.

He promptly asked Labour leader Mr Corbyn to sign the 6"x 6" tile before auctioning it off at his constituency General Election celebration night.

The highest bidder was Bob Lloyd, chairman of the West Bromwich West CLP, with the money raised going to the Grenfell Tower disaster fund.

Mr Bailey said: "We have all seen the pain and suffering and tragic loss of life from the Grenfell disaster.

"This tile was from a limited batch which was being sold to help pay for the extensive renovation work.

"I was delighted that I managed to purchase the tile and thereby offer support to the Grenfell Tower disaster fund."

The House of Commons is going through a £5.7 billion restoration - the first major work there since parts of it were rebuilt following the 1834 fire.
