Police seize 'zombie-style machete' and suspected drugs after chase in Oldbury

A young person has been arrested in Oldbury after officers pursued them through the Lion Farm area.

West Midlands Police said officers attempted to engage with the individual in the Lion Farm neighbourhood before they fled on foot, sprinting through nearby bushes.

Following a brief chase, the suspect was detained by officers.

A search of the area where the individual had run led to the discovery of a “zombie-style machete” and a large quantity of suspected drugs, police said.

In 2024 “zombie-style” knives and machetes (weapons which are more than eight inches in length and often have a serrated edge, spikes or more than two sharp points) were added to the list of prohibited weapons in the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
