Oldbury attempted murder investigation continues as three teenage defendants plead not guilty

Three defendants have appeared before a crown court judge charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Oldbury

A police investigation over the alleged stabbing of a 17-year-old youth during serious disorder in a town centre is continuing, a crown court judge has been told.

On Thursday (July 30) 18-year-old Soleh Uzair, of Beaumont Road, Halesowen, and two 17-year-old youths all pleaded not guilty to attempted murder at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The case relates to reports of fighting, in Market Street, in Oldbury, on July 2.

Rajbir Punia, prosecuting, said: “The investigation is ongoing. The victim is now home.”

A trial date was set for November 9.

Judge Jonathan Gosling told the defendants: “Your solicitors and barristers will be in touch. There is going to be another hearing on October 2.

“All three of you must attend. If you are in custody, get on the van and come in. If you are on bail at that point it is important that you come to court.

“You must also come to your trial. It will be a separate offence if you fail to attend.”

The 17-year-olds, of Smethwick, cannot be publicly named due to their age.

There was no application for bail. Reporting restrictions were not lifted.

In the aftermath of the disorder West Midlands Police shut roads and set up cordons in Market Street and Church Street.
