Dudley Market Place would be changed forever when the Dudley Arms Hotel was demolished in June, 1970. Originally called the Rose and Crown, there had been a pub on the site since the reign of Queen Anne, and it was rebuilt in 1786. The site would become part of a Marks & Spencer store.
