13 nostalgic photos as Blitz spirit and plenty of authentic costumes bring 1940s spirit to Black Country market
It was a day for traders to dress up in their favourite period clothing and bring memories of the Home Front and the Blitz spirit to a market hall.
The traders at Brierley Hill Market put on a day of nostalgia as it celebrated its annual 1940s event with a day of costumes and other memorabilia.
This included three military vehicles outside the rear entrance, as well as Union Jack bunting and period clothing, with support from the Saddlers Peaky Blinders group and customers also invited to join in the fun.
Market manager Steve Bridgwater said the event was one of the favourites of the traders at the market and said they funded it themselves as a way of thanking customers.
He said: "We do a lot of events during the year, but the 1940s one is one of the favourites as we're all very patriotic.
"The traders will put a pound in a pot every week, which comes to about £40 to £50 a week and we let that build up and then put on the event for our customers as a way of just saying thank you for staying with us."
There were plenty of great costumes on display at the event, as these photos show:
