The then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the centre on School Street in May 2021 as part of a visit to Wolverhampton to mark Mental Health Awareness Week and learn about projects supporting the wellbeing of the city’s young people.

From archery to table tennis and football keepy uppies, the Duke and Duchess showed their sporty side at The Way, engaging in a number of activities including football and archery.

They also joined pupils from local schools in a gardening exercise, designed to highlight the importance of the nature and outdoor activities to mental health, an important exercise with the session taking place towards the latter stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Highlights of the day included the duke answering a question about what he liked to be called by saying: "My name, which is William. If you call me Dave, I probably won’t answer” and also politely turned down an offer to help graffiti artist David Brown spray paint a graffiti wall, saying he had tried it before and didn't want to ruin the wall.

The couple then showed their competitive side when they played a game of table tennis against each other, leaving those in attendance with memories that will last a lifetime.
