Creative and dazzling displays celebrated as Lichfield Cathedral names winners of festive tree competition
The brightest and best festive displays have been celebrated by Lichfield Cathedral as it announced the winners of its annual tree festival.
The 2025 Christmas Tree Festival brought together businesses, charities, and schools from Lichfield and the surrounding area for a festive display across Christmas.
The Christmas Tree Festival was sponsored by Lovell and all funds raised supported the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral, a group which works to sustain the work and mission of Lichfield Cathedral.
This year’s festival featured 52 decorated trees and wreaths, and the addition of wreaths displayed on the historic Fenland Black Oak table, proved a popular highlight.
Voting for the best trees in four different categories and the overall winner was also conducted by the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral, with visitors to the Cathedral encouraged to vote for their favourites.
Following weeks of voting, four winners were named, with Business tree won by Foster for Staffordshire, Charity tree won by Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, School tree won by Greenfield Primary School in Walsall and Best Wreath by Lichfield Litter Legends.
Lichfield Litter Legends also earned the most overall votes to win the prize of overall winner, with the winning charities and schools each receiving a cash prize, while Lichfield Litter Legends received the winners trophy.
Sandra Cottrell, Vice Chair of the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral, said: "This much‑loved annual event enables us to raise vital funds in support of our wonderful Cathedral and simply would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and the thousands of visitors who come along each year to vote for their favourite tree or wreath.
"Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s festival such a success.”
