Skoda releases pricing for new Scala
New hatchback comes with a competitive price tag

Skoda has announced prices and specifications for its new Scala hatchback.
Starting at £16,595, the Scala features alloy wheels, LED headlamps and air conditioning as standard on all equipment grades.
Three engine options are available from launch, comprising of two petrol and one diesel powertrain. A 1.0-litre petrol kicks off the range – with either 94bhp or 113bhp output – followed by a more powerful, 148bhp 1.5-litre unit. The diesel, meanwhile, is a 113bhp 1.6-litre turbo.
Skoda says that further performance and economy figures will be released later.
Slotting in between current Fabia and Octavia models in Skoda’s range, the Scala aims to deliver interior spaciousness in a compact package. As well as offering best-in-class headroom levels, it features a 467-litre boot which can be extended to 1,410 litres by folding the rear seats down.
All units, save for the base-output 1.0-litre petrol arriving later this summer, are available with an optional seven-speed DSG gearbox.
Base S-specification cars get alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel and a height adjustable driver’s seat. A DAB radio and electric front and rear windows are fitted as standard too.
Move up to the SE trim level and you’ll find cruise control added to the list of standard kit, along with rear parking sensors, eight-inch colour touchscreen and a full infotainment system. These cars start at £18,580.
Finally, the range is topped by SE L-specification models. These get Skoda’s Amundsen infotainment system which features a 9.2-inch colour touchscreen, complemented by a virtual cockpit system which replaces the conventional dials for TFT screens.
Keyless entry, automatic air conditioning and 17-inch wheels also come fitted as standard. These cars start from £20,380.
Order books for the new Skoda Scala open in May, and first deliveries are expected to commence in the summer.
