Lamborghini reveals its most powerful production car yet
Limited-run Aventador SVJ breaks cover, boasting 759bhp from its 6.5-litre V12 engine

Lamborghini has revealed its most powerful production car to date – the 759bhp Aventador SVJ.
The power increase for the 6.5-litre V12 – 29bhp more than the Aventador S – means the extreme variant of the Italian supercar can cover the 0-60mph sprint in 2.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of more than 217mph.

As well as the boost in power, the SVJ, which is limited to 900 units, sees a number of lightweight additions for overall improved performance, including a new engine cover and aluminium alloy wheels. The result is a 1,525kg dry weight – equalling a power-to-weight ratio of 497bhp per tonne.
Helping to keep the car stuck to the ground is the addition of aerodynamic body elements. With a more aggressive front splitter, larger side air intakes, a new rear diffuser and the introduction of a huge wing over the back, overall downforce is improved by a claimed 40 per cent.
Lamborghini’s second-generation ‘ALA’ active aerodynamics system allows for the downforce improvement by controlling flaps on the engine bonnet for even more cornering prowess.
New Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres have also been developed for the Aventador SVJ, while track-focused P Zero Trofeo R rubber joins the options list.

Despite being a car clearly designed with performance in mind, some creature comforts are also available for the Italian machine. An infotainment system with navigation is a free option – it even supports Apple CarPlay. Lamborghini also says the interior has ‘virtually limitless’ customisation options through the firm’s Ad Personam arm.
On top of 900 units for the standard Aventador SVJ, a further 63 will be produced in SVJ 63 guise – celebrating the firm’s founding year of 1963. This version gets a unique livery that ‘demonstrates the rich use of carbon fibre’.

Pricing for the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ starts at £291,667 and deliveries are expected to begin in early 2019.
