He had minor injuries, such as cuts and scrapes, and was dishevelled and traumatised.

After the police distributed a description of the boy, a family member contacted the sheriff’s office and asked if the child’s one-year-old brother had been found nearby, also explaining that the children’s mother hadn’t been seen since Thursday.

Officers searched the area where the three-year-old was found and discovered an overturned car in a ravine.

The vehicle was on its side, with the one-year-old boy still strapped into his car seat. He was alert and responsive, and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The body of the children’s mother, believed to be 25-year-old Lisa Holliman, had been thrown from the car in the crash and was also discovered by police.

James Holliman, the father of the deceased woman, revealed that she was four weeks’ pregnant when she died.

Both toddlers suffered dehydration but have made a full recovery and are now back with their family.
