Turbocharged, 148bhp powertrain revealed for upcoming Vauxhall Corsa GSi
Mid-range performance variant of Vauxhall’s popular hatchback will be powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 148bhp, and is set to hit showrooms in Autumn

It’s been known for a while that Vauxhall’s iconic GSi nameplate would be making an appearance on the Corsa later in 2018, but it hadn’t been revealed what engine would be powering the warm hatch — until now.
The Corsa GSi is set to boast a 1.4-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine when it arrives at dealers in September. It will produce 148bhp and 220Nm of torque — sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox — making the hatch capable of 0-60mph in 8.7 seconds with a top speed of 128mph possible.

Powertrain details are the final piece in the Corsa GSi puzzle, which features the chassis from the more potent VXR model in the pursuit of handling prowess. For extra performance-focused credentials, it also boasts a rear spoiler for downforce along with optional 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels which reduce unsprung weight.
Visually distinguishing the GSi from the rest of the Corsa range is the addition of large front air intakes, a re-sculpted bonnet, red front brake calipers and chrome exhaust tailpipes.
Inside the car, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminium pedals continue the GSi theme while Vauxhall’s IntellilLink infotainment system features as standard — with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Order books open for the Vauxhall Corsa GSi in July with showroom deliveries beginning in September. Pricing has yet to be confirmed but expect it to undercut the range-topping VXR’s £18,190 cost.
