UK pricing and specification announced for new Mercedes-Benz A-Class
New A-Class pricing reveals premium hatchback starts at £25,800 for the entry-level diesel model

The overhauled Mercedes-Benz A-Class has gone on sale, sporting a fresh look, revamped interior and high specification.
Prices start from £25,800 for the A 180d SE model, representing an increase of more than £3,000 compared with the same trim and engine combination on the old model. For the extra cash, the standard specification is impressive, with seven-inch displays including a central touchscreen, voice-activated functions, comfort suspension and air conditioning.

Various driver-assistance systems are also included as standard, including lane keeping assist, speed limit assist and keyless go.
Two other trim lines are offered above the SE specification at launch – Sport and AMG Line. The Sport trim adds LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, upgraded fabric upholstery and automatic climate control. Opt for AMG Line and 18-inch alloy wheels, a sporty body kit, microfibre upholstery and a three-spoke steering wheel are fitted.

The A 180d gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine, making 114bhp and 260Nm of torque, with economy rated at 68.9mpg on the combined cycle.
There’s also a 1.4-litre petrol engine making 161bhp and 250Nm of torque available in the
A 200, measuring fuel economy of 51.4mpg, while the A 250 uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 221bhp and 350Nm of torque, registering 45.6mpg.
Various optional upgrade packages are available, including a £2,395 Premium equipment line, which swaps the seven-inch touchscreen for a 10.25-inch version to create a widescreen effect more common on the German firm’s high-end models.
Further options include multi-beam LED headlights, adaptive high beam, a panoramic sunroof and an advanced navigation package.
The new A-Class was revealed last month after much hype. Mercedes-Benz says the updated model is “more mature and comfortable than ever before”, adding that the infotainment system and driver-assistance features put it above its competition.
Speaking at the launch, Mercedes-Benz Cars chairman Dieter Zetsche said: “The A-Class has been a big driver of change at Mercedes-Benz. It is the single best example of how we managed to rejuvenate our entire brand.

“There’s not much of an ‘entry-level’ feel left in our new entry-level car. This grown-up A-Class fully incorporates our definition of modern luxury. And it’s unparalleled in this segment.”
