The BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre is a birthday present to itself
BMW has released a special edition of its high-performance convertible to celebrate 30 years since the first model was made

BMW has pulled the wraps off a limited-edition version of its high-performance convertible 4-Series to celebrate 30 years since the model was introduced.
The M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre is based on the Competition Pack model, but with largely cosmetic upgrades. That means standard equipment includes a louder exhaust system, adaptive suspension and a sports configuration for the stability control system and active differential.

Performance is the same, with the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine making 444bhp and 550Nm of torque. The result is a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Changes for the special edition include a choice of two body colours, with Macao Blue paying tribute to the colour available on the original model released in 1988, and Frozen Dark Grey, which is exclusive to UK buyers.

Further standard equipment on the 30 Jahre is a high gloss trim for the ‘kidney grilles’ at the front of the car, M side gills, and a ‘star-spoke’ design for the 20-inch, lightweight alloy wheels, which are painted matt grey exclusively on this model.
Inside, there’s full Merino leather trim available in two-tone colour schemes designed to match the exterior colour. There’s also contrast stitching in the headrests and floor mats, carbon-fibre trim pieces, and “30 Jahre Edition” badging throughout.

Three hundred special-edition M4 Convertibles will be made, with just 30 slated for the UK market. Prices start at £76,675 – a considerable premium over the standard M4 Competition Package Convertible, which costs from £65,380.
