Jeep reveals host of concept vehicles for 51st Annual Moab Safari
Event is attended by thousands of off-road enthusiasts taking on some of the USA’s most formidable terrain
Jeep has unveiled a series of vehicles ahead of their official debuts at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.
Seven vehicles have been created in total in partnership with Mopar, with each showcasing different aspects of the Jeep brand.
Mopar is behind the development of Jeep’s performance parts, ensuring that each component can withstand the harshest off-road conditions.
Mike Manley, head of Jeep Brand for FCA Global, said: “It’s truly a labour of love for the Jeep team to develop exciting, capable concept vehicles each year for Moab and the Easter Jeep Safari.
“We look forward to the reaction and feedback from enthusiasts and our most loyal customers as these new Jeep concepts are put through their paces on the trails in Moab.”
The first of the seven concepts is called Grand One. This car celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Grand Cherokee, and features 18-inch alloy wheels wearing 33-inch mud tyres and a two-inch suspension lift. A retro in-car phone has also been fitted in acknowledgement of the Cherokee’s roots. It is powered by a 5.2-litre V8 engine driven to all four wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox.
The remaining concepts – Safari, Quicksand, Trailpass, Switchback, CJ66 and Luminator – all have different characteristics appealing to different areas of off-road driving. The Quicksand, for instance, is specifically designed to be capable on sand, while the Safari employs clear ‘windoors’ to give those inside a clearer view of the outside.
The event takes place from April 8 to 16.
