Driving school experts have been giving sixth-form pupils a reminder about the importance of safety on the roads.

Instructors from BSM visited Stuart Bathurst School, Wednesbury, to drive home their message to 40 students aged 16 and 17 in the lower sixth form classes.

The visit was organised as part of a partnership between BSM and Sandwell Council, and instructors began the day by showing a gritty video portraying a real-life accident, as well as the effect is has on the driver and the victim's family.

The students then tried out a driving simulator machine before putting the practical skills learned into practice during a series of mini-lessons in the school car park.

A driving theory lesson was also carried out with students and a quiz was then held, with cinema tickets for the winner.

Sixth form learning mentor Marc McLaren said: "The message definitely got through." BSM will be back in school on Tuesday to carry out the same exercises with upper-sixth form classes.
