Two men charged after cloned vehicle spotted in Wolverhampton
The two men were arrested, and later charged, after the car was stopped and searched on a road in Newbridge.
Two men have been arrested and charged with numerous offences after police officers stopped a car on cloned plates.
West Midlands Police said that the car had been stopped on Tettenhall Road in the Newbridge area of Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening around 7pm and, after a search, cannabis and heroin were discovered inside the vehicle.
The two men were arrested, with one arrested for driving while disqualified and for being in possession of cannabis and the other for failing to appear at court last month and on suspicion of possessing heroin.
The force said the men had later been charged with the offences and were set to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday. No details are available of their appearance.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Our position is clear, criminal activity and getting involved in organised crime, such as drug dealing, is not glamourous. It can put lives at risk and will not be tolerated.
“With Op Redfox, we're acting on information to execute warrants, carry out proactive operations and have high visibility to disrupt and deter crime and anti-social behaviour in hotspot areas across Wolverhampton.”
The force also said that on Tuesday evening, officers were in Bradmore and Pennfields and, at both locations, two men were stopped and searched, with one being found with a quantity of class A drugs and the other with cannabis.
These were seized and will be destroyed, and the men were dealt with by way of out-of-court disposals, which can include warnings, cautions, penalty notices and community resolutions.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “If you are concerned about crime, please remember no piece of information is too small for us to consider.
“You can call us on 101, speak to us via Live Chat on our website, email officers, or speak to us face to face in police stations or while we’re out on patrol.”
