National Lottery operator Allwyn said under the game rules the unnamed person’s claim will now go through the process of validation before the prize is paid.

The lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter said: “Last week we launched an appeal for our missing Thunderball winner and we’re delighted to have been able to track them down and award them with this life-changing sum of money.
“What a brilliant win for this lucky player.”
The winner is the latest from the city to scoop life-changing sums from the lottery draws.
In 2022, an anonymous winner won a whopping £7.44 m, but failed to claim the ticket for several months resulting in the organisers launching a long-running appeal with the help of the Express & Star featuring Wolves legend Steve Bull before they eventually came forward.
When the latest winning the ticket has been validated and paid, the ticket-holder will then decide whether or not to go public and share their news.
