Lorry overturns causing delays on busy Cannock route

The heavy goods vehicle has overturned on the Orbital Way roundabout during the evening rush hour, leaving the A460 exit for the M6 toll blocked.

The lorry is strewn across the entrance to the A460 leading to the A5 and M6 toll past TK Maxx.

Not only does the island serve the popular retail park but it is also a heavily used commuter route for Cannock and Staffordshire drivers.

This means two sets of drivers are facing delays as they try to get home from work and into the retail park.

Several Twitter users took to the social media site to post pictures of the lorry, which can be seen on its side blocking the road.

Reporter Nathan Briant, who posted a picture of the lorry, tweeted: "Driver seems ok but taken off in ambulance. Lucky escape."

The incident occurred around 6.30pm with Staffordshire Fire Service arriving on the scene around 10 minutes later.

Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
