Hundreds of homes lined up for former Ibstock brick site in Kingswinford
Up to 200 new homes, retail units, a gym and restaurants make up ambitious plans for a new development in the Black Country.
The proposals on the vacant site of Ibstock Brick Ltd off Stallings Lane, Kingswinford, are described as a 'landmark development' in the application submitted to Dudley Council.
In addition to the construction of up to 200 dwellings, the indicative masterplan sets out 7,205 square metres of retail space, 700 square metres for gym and leisure facilities, and a family pub or restaurant spanning 590 square metres.
The application for the development called 'Tansey Green', has been made by Ibstock Brick and Hawkins, on the site which was formerly used for clay extraction and brick manufacturing.
The 18.8 acre site is bounded by Stallings Lane, the B4175, to the south, on the opposite site of which is the Pensnett Trading Estate.
It is also close to the Himley View residential development, which comprises of approximately 335 dwellings.
The 'Tansey Green' developers state: "The proposed indicative scheme masterplan has been developed to provide a landmark development, integrated with the surrounding area".
Councillor Dave Tyler, councillor for the Kingswinford North and Wall Heath ward,, said: "It is what we need as we look to regenerate the area. And its good that we are developing a brownfield site.
Kingswinford is extremely popular with families but we need new homes and facilities for them."
