Jilted lover sold ex girlfriend's belongings to take 'revenge'
A man who sold his ex-girlfriend's cooker, fridge, washing machine and bed in 'revenge' after their relationship ended has been jailed for six months.
Adam George still had a key to the property in Quinton and after getting rid of the goods he also used a sharp instrument to cut up her clothing, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Mr David Bennett, prosecuting, said George moved into the Blandford Road flat but his relationship with Kerry Owen ended when he was arrested for tearing one of the doors off its hinges.
George, who had 15 previous offences on his criminal record, then returned to the flat after Miss Owen left for a few days and he sold her furniture
The 27-year-old, of no fixed address, admitted theft and criminal damage.
Mr Timothy Harrington, defending George, said the offences were motivated by revenge and George was full of remorse for his actions because he realised he had behaved badly.
Recorder Michael Hurst told him the offences were so serious only an immediate prison sentence was appropriate.
He said: "She left her home because of the way you were behaving.
"You kept a key and when she was away you sold most of the items."
George was also handed a restraining order, forbidding him from having any contact with Miss Owen until further notice.
