Passenger had stun gun and knuckle dusters on Birmingham-bound flight
Airport border security stopped a passenger on a West Midland-bound flight after discovering he was carrying a stun gun and three knuckle dusters.
The man, understood to be in his 30s, was held at Birmingham Airport after getting off a flight from Cyprus on Thursday.
The weapons were found in his luggage after he was searched by airport officials shortly after jetting in from the Mediterranean .
The Home Office said the man, who is British, was detained, questioned then released and the information was then passed onto the National Crime Agency (NCA).
A Home Office spokesperson said: "Border Force officers at Birmingham Airport seized a stun gun and three knuckle dusters found during a baggage search on Thursday after the arrival of a flight from Cyprus.
"Items like this are extremely dangerous, which is why the controls on bringing them into the UK are so strict.
"Travellers should remember that just because you can legally buy an item while on holiday abroad does not mean you can bring it back to the UK.
"Border Force officers are on constant alert to stop offensive weapons entering the UK. The penalties for those caught in possession of such items are tough and pleading ignorance is simply no defence."
The Home Office said the NCA would be investigating the matter.
