More than 30 jobs created in Stourport after official opening of new B&M store following £1m refurbishment
More than 30 jobs have been created after a new B&M store opened on a Stourport retail park.
Discount retailer B&M cut the ribbon on its new store at Tannery Retail Park in Stourport-on-Severn earlier this month, creating 34 new jobs and providing what it described as a “much-needed boost to the local economy”.
The highly anticipated opening follows an extensive refurbishment and modern shop fit-out delivered by developers Goold Estates, which acquired the former Midcounties Co-operative site last year.
More than £1 million has been invested in transforming the 2.1-acre retail park, delivering around 29,000 square feet of high-quality retail space across four contemporary units.

B&M’s arrival is the latest success in the rejuvenation of the site, following the recent openings of InStore Pharmacy and St Richard’s Hospice Foundation store. The final unit is currently under offer.
“We’re delighted to see the store open after a significant investment in the property, comprehensively re-modelling and refurbishing the former supermarket," said Anthony Williams, property director at Goold Estates.
“Attracting a popular national retailer like B&M is great news for Stourport-on-Severn, creating jobs and footfall in the area, as well as providing a great range of value products for customers.”
The discount retailer announced the new opening after it took control of the former Co-op store at the site, joining new tenants St Richard’s Hospice Foundation and InStore Pharmacy, which moved into units on the same site.
A spokesperson for B&M added: "We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
"We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome new customers through the door."
