Driver dies after car crashes into tree on Worcestershire road

A motorist has died after the car he was driving left the road and struck a tree in Worcestershire.

The crash involving a blue Volvo happened in Goosehill Lane near Hanbury on January 2.

The  Midlands Air Ambulance  was scrambled to the scene following the collision which happened at about 9.50am and the man, aged in his 50s, was airlifted to hospital.

However, despite efforts to save him the driver has since died from his injuries.

West Mercia Police said its thoughts were with the man's family at this time.

The force's Pc Owen Steer said “A man was found seriously injured at the scene of the collision and our thoughts are with him and his family.

“We are keen to establish exactly when and how the collision occurred, and we would urge anyone who may have seen the car, which we believe was travelling towards Droitwich along Goosehill from the general direction of Himbleton to please get in touch.”

The incident resulted in Goosemill Lane being closed for several hours before it was re-opened to traffic.
