Wolverley Sebright Primary Academy pupil, Rose Bishop, came up with a winning idea to help change the world and in turn won the cash for books and library resources.

Judges of the One Big Idea project awarded Rose first place for her My Teddy Friend, a teddy to help children share their emotions with an app to help parents understand their needs and support their wellbeing.

She was one of hundreds of children from Severn Academies Educational Trust primary schools who took part in the project designed to encourage creative thinking and further collaborative work between the trust schools.

Project coordinator Adrian McLean, the trust's leader for personal development, said: “The battle was intense with the six finalists being evenly matched in their ideas but Rose just pipped them to the post with an excellent pitch.

“The children really thought outside the box and surpassed my dreams for the project. They were super creative and simply amazing.”

Other finalists were Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary with day to night glasses to enable you to see in the dark; Hartlebury CE Primary with a robot scarecrow called Farmbot; Stourport Primary Academy with a Fun Trolley to make shopping more exciting; Wilden All Saints CE Primary with Consumable Covers environmentally-friendly food packaging and St Bartholomew’s CE Primary with an Amazing All-Weather Coat to keep you dry in the winter and cool in the summer.

Chris King, trust chief executive, said: “Our children came up with lots of fantastic ideas and we are now looking for companies who would be interested in helping make some of them come to life.”
