People living in Keepers Lane, which runs from Tettenhall through to Codsall, say they have had to endure 15 road accidents in just two years.

They say the twisty narrow roads cannot cope with the present volume of traffic - and fear that the new developments will lead to an extra 2,000 car movements a day.

Last year, Miller Homes and South Staffordshire Council issued a joint statement on proposals for at least 317 new homes to be built on green space between Keepers Lane and Wergs Hall Road, over an eight-year period beginning in 2029. And last month, Persimmon Homes lodged a separate, preliminary 'screening' application to build a further 767 properties on the opposite side of Keepers Lane, on 109 acres of farmland bounded by the River Penk in the south.

Residents' spokesman Mike Phillips said one neighbour had the front of his car 'demolished' while he tried to leave his drive, and another had his front wall flattened by a passing lorry.
