10 ChristmasFest pictures at the Wolverhampton church where thieves stole roof leading
ChristmasFest was a cracker at the Wolverhampton church where thieves stripped the roof leading just days before the big event.
But despite facing more than £2,000 worth of repairs the congregation at Bilston's Excel Church pulled out all the stops to give residents a good time on Saturday (13) afternoon at the festive community gathering in the Wolverhampton Street grounds.

Attractions included a nativity display, Father Christmas, elves, farm animals, carousel ride, a bouncy castle, carol singers, a brass band, gift stalls, cakes, character visits, marshmallow toasting and photo stall.
The church car park was transformed into a festival arena for the event meaning that a free shuttle bus service was put on for visitors.

Dismayed church staff discovered the lead had been stripped causing damage to three windows when they arrived for work on December 8. Despite the setback the worshippers were determined to carry on with the packed Christmas programme.

Other events in the run up to December 25 include Bilston Senior Citizen Christmas Hampers collection on December 19 between 10am and midday and December 20 between 9am and11am for 120 older residents arriving with a bus pass and proof of address in the WV14 area.
Carol services featuring nativity presentations will be held on December 21 at 10.30am and 5pm. There will be a traditional carol service on Christmas Eve at 6pm and Christmas Day Praise at 10.30am.
