The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Anchor Lane will be open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 6pm.

There were queues of more than four hours along the Black Country Route when the tip opened for the first time since the lockdown began last week.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said the authority was expecting a lot of people to visit the site over the bank holiday weekend.

There were huge queues when the tip reopened after closing during the lockdown

They said: "We saw almost 1,000 vehicles pass through the gate of Anchor Lane during the weekend it reopened.

"The site has been busy, as expected, but carefully planned traffic management and marshalling of vehicles has meant it’s worked well.

"We’d like to thank residents for their co-operation, patience and for keeping to the strict social distancing arrangements."

Only residents from Wolverhampton and Dudley will be able to access the site, with a household bill and photo ID required for entry.

Residents will also be turned away if they try to enter the site in a van or with a trailer, try to use the site for trade and business waste or try to bring children onto the site.

Residents have also been told not to visit the site if they, or any member of their household, are showing any coronavirus symptoms.
