The tree, which stood about 40ft tall in the garden of a property on St Giles Crescent, Eastfield in Wolverhampton, has come crashing down.

Stephanie Tranter said the tree in the garden of her parents' house snapped in half at around 3am today (March 25) and part of it crashed down onto their shed.

The impact and the loud noises killed beloved fish and birds that were kept in her father's shed at the back of the garden.

Photos seen by the Express & Star show deceased fish including expensive Japanese koi carp and birds including Siberian bullfinches.
