Two of Wolverhampton's favourite landmarks will be lit at night as part of scheme to make city feel safer

Two of Wolverhampton's most familiar landmarks will be illuminated at night as part of a scheme to bring the city to life in the evenings.

St Peter's Gardens, around St Peter's Collegiate Church, and Wolverhampton Art Gallery will be lit up at night as part of a plan to boost the city's evening economy.

The council says it will highlight the historic building's as part of the city's identity, and also improve safety at night.

The lighting will be installed by Wolverhampton Council in the summer, subject to listed building consent and the approval of Lichfield Diocese.

It will deliver additional lighting in St Peter’s Gardens, illumination of the recently unveiled candle sculpture in the gardens, enhancing lighting around the church and gardens.
