Metro services suspended in Wolverhampton after car and tram crash
Passengers travelling between Priestfield and Wolverhampton are being advised to use replacement transport
Tram services on the West Midlands Metro were partially suspended this morning (Wednesday March 11) after a crash involving a car and a tram near Priestfield tram stop.
The disruption began shortly after 9.15am on Wednesday, with no trams running between Priestfield and Wolverhampton.
Services were still operating between Priestfield tram stop and Edgbaston Village tram stop.
Ticket acceptance is in place on the 79 bus service operated by National Express West Midlands.
In a post on social media, the operator said the disruption was caused by a road traffic collision near the Priestfield area and apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
Passengers were advised to check the latest updates before travelling.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: Officers were called to the line near Priestfield at 9.02am today (11 March) following reports that a car had collided with a tram at a level crossing. Officers attended, and there were no injuries reported. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
