Healthplan Ltd comprises two community pharmacies in Wolverhampton - Essington Pharmacy on Long Knowle Lane and HN Pharmacy on Cannock Road - which together dispense an average of 22,000 items per month.

The pharmacies, which operate standard hours, have been owned by Janak Patel since 1986 and 1993, respectively, and they were brought to market as he wanted to retire.

Following a confidential sales process with Carl Steer at Christie & Co, Healthplan Ltd has been bought for an undisclosed price by Jacksons Pharmacy Ltd - operated by brothers Amanjeet Grewal, Indy Grewal and Harmeet Grewal, who run a group of 15 pharmacy businesses across the West Midlands.

Mr Steer, a director at Christie & Co, said: “Sometimes things are just meant to be. Indy and his brothers have long since had plans to buy the two pharmacies, so once Janak got in touch to start thinking about a sale, Indy was in mind.

“The decision to sell didn’t come easy for Mr Patel but after meeting numerous times over a few years, we were instructed and asked to undertake an off-market approach to around 10 potential buyers discreetly. We agreed a sale to Indy within six weeks after a competitive process.”
