Road closed in Wolverhampton after 'three-foot-deep, three-foot-wide sinkhole' appears on city street

A road in Wolverhampton has been closed after a 'sinkhole' appeared in a city street.

The 'sinkhole' has been spotted near Clarkes in Wolverhampton at the junction between Vicarage Road and All Saints Road. Workmen have closed off a section of the road.

Photos show a hole that has developed in the centre of the road at the junction.

It is believed to have been caused by a burst water pipe. Severn Trent Water has been contacted for a comment.

Surinder Kaur, of All Saints Road, said: "It looks pretty bad. I only noticed it this morning. 

"It looks around three foot wide and three foot deep. Like, if you fell down that, you could end up getting really hurt.

"It's lucky that no one has driven their car into it. Let's hope that it gets fixed soon."

A road closure has been put into place for the junction of Vicarage Road and All Saints Road, with cars being diverted down alternative routes while road works deal with the issue.

Wolverhampton Council has been approached for comment.
