'All our livelihoods have gone' - Businesses left counting the cost of devastating Wolverhampton blaze
Entrepreneurs left counting the cost in a devastating blaze which gutted a Wolverhampton business park have spoken of their fears for the future after losing their livelihoods.
Some 35 enterprises based at Imex Business Park in Sunbeam Street in Wolverhampton were left wrecked by the fire, which broke out around 7.30am on January 14. Among them were four thriving businesses operated by Golam Chowdhury and his partners including Rishi Garg.
West Midlands Fire Service is carrying out an investigation into the cause of the blaze which started in a car repair shop at the rear of the old factory site which spread to nearby units near the junction of Sunbeam Street and Upper Villiers Street.
Among those destroyed were units occupied by GD Plus Limited, Chowdhury Metals Exporter (UK) Limited, GDG Polymers Limited and bespoke fitters RR Kitchens Limited which occupied Units 10-13 and employing a total of nine workers who have been left without income.
Mr Chowdhury said: "There were 35 units gutted and we were in four of them.
"All our livelihoods have gone. Nine people have been left with no jobs.
