Work continues to 'scale down' Wolverhampton factory fire after emergency responders worked through the night
Firefighters are continuing work to 'scale down' the huge factory blaze in Wolverhampton as crews remained on scene overnight.
West Midlands Fire Service have confirmed the fire broke out at a unit in Sunbeam Street, near the junction of Upper Villiers Street at around 7.30am yesterday morning (January 14). The cause has not yet been confirmed.
The incident saw smoke billowing over the city, local businesses affected by smoke and road closures - which continue this morning (Jan 15).
Firefighters remain on scene this morning after making 'good progress' in making area safe. The initial response saw 17 fire engines, two 4×4 brigade response vehicles, two hydraulic aerial platforms and a drone team at the scene yesterday morning.

This has now reduced to five fire engines and two hydraulic platforms. However, the public are still urged to avoid the area.
In a statement this morning (January 15), a spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "Our firefighters have worked throughout the night as we continue to scale down this incident.
"Currently there are 5 fire engines and 2 hydraulic platforms in attendance.
"Our crews will continue to work with partner agencies and the local businesses on scene to bring this incident to a conclusion.
"Our presence on scene will remain throughout the day, with our investigation into the cause beginning when safe to do so.
"Upper Villiers Street is still closed from its junction with Goldthorn Hill to the junction with Marston Road. Please continue to avoid the area and plan alternative routes."
