He said he immediately spoke to a police superintendent about the matter, and informed council officials.

They vacated the site today (Thursday), after being served with an injunction by Wolverhampton Council yesterday (Wednesday).

Councillor Bateman said it appeared that only minor damage had been caused to the site.

Tyre tracks were left on the football pitches, and a small amount of rubbish had been left behind, he said.

"All in all the football pitches are only slightly damaged," said Councillor Bateman.

"There is some rubbish left and nappies and other used items. I am hoping that the parks department will be able to deal with it quickly.

"I think it needs a little bit of a tidy. I understand there might be one or two gas bottles left in situ, we will have to have a look around.

"I'm just pleased we managed to deal with it reasonably quickly," he added.
