Search of canal in Wolverhampton over reports of person in water
Searches of a canal in Wolverhampton were carried out amid reports there may have been people in danger.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Bentley Bridge at about 8pm on Sunday
West Midlands Police confirmed nobody was found despite extensive searches. West Midlands Ambulance said its crews have been 'stood down'.
Crews were returning to the area this morning (Monday) to continue checks to ensure there was no-one unaccounted for, stated the force.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a person in the water off Bentley Bridge Way in Wolverhampton at 8.18pm on Sunday,
"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Air Ambulance's critical care car and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were sent to the scene.
"After a thorough search alongside police and fire colleagues, no patient was found, and we were stood down."
